Born Ebro Helmy in Syracuse, New York and raised between the United States and Cairo, he learned early how a melody could thread two worlds together. A private academy with a serious arts program first put him on a stage, somewhere between musical-theatre productions and the call to prayer drifting over the city.

He trained in musical theatre at AMDA in New York City, the discipline that still shows up in the way he performs: every song is a scene, every release a small film. Those years sharpened an instinct for storytelling that now runs underneath everything he writes.

He is also a countertenor, the highest male voice type, and is billed as one in Japan, where he sings recital work with only a grand piano behind him. It is the least expected line on a dance-pop page, and the one that explains the range.

The other half of that billing is comedy, and it is not an aside. Between 2019 and 2022 he hosted and co-hosted across the upstate New York circuit, drag brunches, Pride editions, and holiday shows, including a long run at the Funny Bone comedy club in Albany. Hosting is the second-largest category in his live history, and it is where the stagecraft was built: a microphone, a room, and his own timing.

Today he lives and works in Tokyo, building his next era, electronic pop with a cinematic, fashion-forward edge. Shot through with neon and shadow, the new music videos and editorial imagery treat the city itself as a co-star.
